Dear North Shore Nordic Skier and Supporter!

It’s fall fundraising season and your Nordic ski club is kicking into high gear! However, this year we face a considerable fundraising challenge and we need your extra financial help.

The Tamarack Brewing Company has hosted our Kick-n-Glide fundraiser at their Rack Shack facility for the past many years.  NSNC’s success over that period is due in no small part, to their generous support.  Sadly, Tamarack no longer owns the Rack Shack property.  This has forced us to look elsewhere for a venue large enough to host a party for our many Nordic supporters.

Over the years the Kick & Glide Party has become a celebrated event in the valley and an essential part of our financial success, providing up to 30% of North Shore Nordic Club’s season-long operating budget!  Unfortunately, we have not been able to secure a suitable site that is affordable and can provide that certain ambiance which has led to the resounding success of our fall fundraiser!

Once again, Tamarack Brewing Company has come to the rescue!  Tamarack will host North Shore Nordic Club at the brewpub in Lakeside every Wednesday for the month of November, and they’ll donate $.75 for every beer enjoyed and 5% of the food bill, when you tell your wait staff that you are a NSNC supporter!

We need you, our supporters, to show up, drink beer, and order a dinner at Tamarack on Wednesdays during the month of November.  Or, alternatively, please help us with our fundraising goal of $18,000, by making a donation to help minimize our budget shortfall.

Your financial support is critical to the continued success and operation of our Blacktail Nordic Ski Trails and Bigfork Community Nordic Center.

We will still have our popular raffle, but tickets will only be available at Tamarack on Wednesday nights in November.  Then, on the last Wednesday (Nov. 28), we’ll host a final party and draw the winning tickets. R MO, Great Northern Cyclery & Ski, the Sportsman Ski Haus, RDO, Jesco and Copper State Bolt & Nut Co. will be providing our great raffle items.  However, this year we will not have our silent auction.

As winter starts to move down the mountains, your North Shore Nordic Club is already preparing for the ski season.  Work begins soon to reconfigure the Wildcat trail at Bigfork Community Nordic Center.  Switchbacks will be added to remove much of the steep slope, and create a more skiable and enjoyable looped trail.  At the same time much-needed drainage work will be completed at several locations on the system.

Please come out in force in November to say “thank you” to Tamarack and to support your North Shore Nordic Club’s efforts to continually improve Nordic skiing in the lower valley.

Remember: There’s no fee, but groomed trails aren’t free!”

Thank you for your ongoing support, and be sure to tell the Tamarack “thanks.”

Sincerely,

North Shore Nordic Club Board of Directors
